look what hollered at me from the side of the road:
the shelf - not the books.
yes, most of the time, these type of shelves seem less practical then nostalgic -but it HOLLERED and it hollered "FREE!" I walked around swooning all day yesterday. I have randomly committed my heart to this bookshelf for 8 years. EIGHT YEARS. since the very day I could not cram another book into my book basket. "get a $10 bookshelf from the thrift store lady" you say. . . nay, nay. . . I am an anti-bookshelf sort of gal - well, mostly. this beaut has been longed after in a nonsensical kind of way for long enough. it's big, it's heavy, it's not functional enough to actually pay for, save for - so, I just dreamt about having one someday in a noncommittal kind of way. then, there she sat. right on the side of the road in all of her awkward, cool as folding-and-rolling jeans glory. my heart leaped and joel knew. his lady had wanted one too long to drive on by. isn't it fabulous!?! now, if only we could find a way to keep chateau from thinking it's his snack rack! first victim: the velveteen rabbit. sigh.
